Set up your point of sale

Before you start

Make sure that:

• The Payments app is installed in your workspace (via the Marketplace)
• You have at least the Manager role

Add products

1. Open Payments > Products
2. Click Add product
3. Enter the name, price, and category
4. Optionally add an image and description
5. Click Save

Products can be organised into categories (e.g. Drinks, Mains, Desserts). You can create categories under Payments > Categories.

Connect a card terminal

Kotao supports card terminals for contactless and chip-and-PIN payments.

1. Go to Payments > Settings > Terminals
2. Click Add terminal
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your terminal
4. Run a test transaction to confirm the connection

Process a payment

1. Select products from the product list
2. Items appear in the cart on the right
3. Click Pay
4. Choose the payment method: card, cash, or other
5. For card payments the terminal is activated automatically
6. A receipt is generated once the payment completes

Receipts and transactions

Every transaction is stored under Payments > Transactions. From there you can view receipts, export them as PDF, or send them to customers by email. Refunds can also be initiated from the transaction overview.
